2013 release. Cacophonic presents Malefices, an outstanding film score by Pierre Henry, often overlooked in lists of the composer's work. The score is a dream record for fans of early electronics, female vocal manipulation, and horror soundtracks. Widely recognized as one of the original sonic architects of the movement known as musique concrete (having joined Pierre Schaeffer's initiative as early as 1949), Pierre Henry was arguably the first musician to entertain the notion of this defiant musical revolution coexisting with traditional and popular music. Initially using the media of modern dance and spoken word as a platform to contextualize his tape-music mutations (notably in unison with Maurice Bejart), Henry's fusion of academic with thematic ideas led to the birth of electronic sound design for film and theatre, exemplified most prevalently in the macabre. His score for Henri Decoin's 1962 film Mal+-fices (Where the Truth Lies) (starring Juliette Gr+-co) is the missing link between his earliest avant-garde recordings and his later celebrated pop experiments with Michel Colombier and Spooky Tooth. It rivals such cinematic sound as Daphne Oram's work for Jack Clayton's 1961 horror film the Innocents, and features Henry at what is perhaps his most melodic, fragile, and enchanting (especially for this unforgiving, formative era in his career). Layering vocal tape loops and gossamer feminine voice treatments with plucked strings, white noise wind, and brooding, industrial treated piano textures, Henry magnifies the film's intoxicated, hallucinatory narrative. This concise set of complete themes is presented here, fully remastered for the first time, alongside rare excerpts from two of the composer's very earliest and least obtainable forays into theatrical sound design: instrumental parts of Henry's first stereo reconstruction of Maurice Bejart's 1961 ballet Orph+-e, and his seldom-heard concrete interludes from Darius Milhaud and Max Gerard's opera Mariage de la Feuille et du Cliche (1958).

This version doesn’t work
I used these 2 nights in a row. I was hoping Oracoat found a solution to the problem people like me have with the regular Xylimelts: irritation of gums. As others have noted the “sensitive” version doesn’t melt and the goo that remains can be difficult to remove. I didn’t have too much trouble after the first night. However, the second day after use, it was so hard to get the remains out, I wound up with a very sore spot from digging it out. I will toss the rest.
It’s too bad this effort fizzled. I hope Oracoat will find a solution For sensitive mouths. In the b meantime, I will use the original for a few nights and then stop before repeating. The idea behind the original product is fantastic. Unfortunately this attempt to make it usable for people with sensitive mouths hasn’t worked. Please try again.

An improvement over the original product, but could be better
I had used the original Xylimelts a few years back for my night time very dry mouth. They worked very well, completely dissolving overnight, but they caused sores inside my cheeks. Recently I discovered this new version which was purported to be made without the offending ingredients. They don't work quite as well, as they don't completely dissolve, but so far haven't caused any irritation. My mouth isn't completely parched as it was without any product, so it is definitely better than nothing. There is a gel-like residue in the morning that needs to be scraped off the teeth. I think Oracoat has some more R & D to do.

These work well!
These work to keep my mouth moist for hours. The only downside is the glue stays in your mouth till you can scrape it out with your finger. I thought it would dissolve but it didn’t. Very grateful to find something that moistens my mouth for so long though. They’re easy to use too. Taste slightly sweet but otherwise I didn’t notice anything.

Xylimelts Sensitive
I was sensitive to the regular Xylimelts after a few months use. Painful gums and hives inside my lips and cheeks. The sensitive version immediately corrected the problem and I’ve been using them without issue for nearly a year. The product is a lifesaver for drymouth that occurred when I was sleeping.
