The history of the Maritime Wall Clock made in Japan
Something about the ship's clock and these two colors- green and red.
" Each radio shack and bridge or wheelhouse was equipped with a ship's clock showing the sectors of radio silence periods. These originate from the time when the first ships were equipped with transceivers based on Morse code.
All stations using 2182 KHz were required to maintain a strict three-minute silence and listening period twice an hour, beginning at h+00, h+30.
As a visual reminder, a typical clock in a ship's radio room marked these silence periods by shading the sectors from h+00 to h+03 and from h+30 to h+33 in green.
Similar sectors were highlighted in red for what used to be the corresponding silence and listening period at 500 KHz between h+15 and h+18 and from h+45 to h+48.
This frequency was used for Morse code signaling and is not commonly used today.
It is marked in red on the dial, clearly and firmly drawing the radio operator's attention to it, are the two 3-minute silent periods to be observed by all radio station at 15 and 45 minutes past each hour."
This vintage ship's clock is equipped with quartz system so it just functions on its own
This clock had originally a secondary slave connection but has been now converted to battery operated movement.
