The SAEC WE-308 is a renowned Japanese tonearm from the 1970s, celebrated for its innovative Double Knife-Edge bearing system. This design employs four precision-polished blades—two above and two below—to minimise friction and eliminate mechanical play, resulting in exceptional tracking accuracy and channel separation. The tonearm's ultra-precise bearings, finished to tolerances as fine as 0.02 mm by skilled artisans, contribute to its high sensitivity and stability. Key specifications include an effective length of 240 mm, an overhang of 5 mm, and a tracking force range of 0 to 2 grams. Its unique bearing design and meticulous craftsmanship have earned it a lasting reputation among audiophiles seeking a tonearm that delivers precise imaging and a rich, detailed soundstage.

Condition:

  • This is a used unit. 

  • Physically this unit is in good condition for its age. It shows some surface wear from use and age. This includes some light scuffs and some light signs of oxidisation. There is a bit more oxidisation on the mounting washer and bolt. There is nothing which detracts from the use or sound of this beautiful tonearm. Please see all photos.

  • This sale includes a SAEC cable loom. This also shows some general signs of age, but nothing major. Please see photos. 

  • This tone arm has been tested and is working very well!  

  • The SAEC WE-308 is definitely for people who are experienced with turntables and setting up tone arms. This is because this unit is delicate and require fine precision to set up. We will not be able to remotely help with set up or installation. So please ensure you are confident before purchase or have a technician who can install it for you.  (If you are able to visit our store in West Gosford, NSW we could help with set up) 

  • This sale is for the tonearm and wiring loom pictured. Nothing else, nor any other parts are included in this sale.

The worst banking experience
Stay away from this card if you want to keep your sanity, they had a welcome offer of $750 that they refused to honor, if you call customer service you will be on hold for 2 hours just for them to transfer the call to someone that doesn't know what they're doing. they still ask you to send them documents by mail or fax to prove you're not lying to them. I closed their card less than a month after opening it, the worst banking experience of my life.

Not good if you need Whole Foods gift cards
If you want to buy Whole Foods gift cards (which is why I got it) it flags it for fraud and doesnt let you. I was told you can spend at Whole Foods but not buy WF gift cards, even though it is a Prime Credit Card. Also if you buy WF gift cards online, you dont get the rewards since its from a gift card company and not Whole Foods.
