Energy Suspension 15.3105G is a complete polyurethane rear control arm bushing kit engineered to replace the worn, sagging rubber bushings on your air-cooled VW's independent rear suspension (IRS). Made from Energy's Hyper-Flex performance polyurethane, this kit restores proper rear suspension geometry, sharpens handling, and lasts far longer than the factory rubber it replaces.

Vehicle Fitment

  • 1968–1978 Volkswagen Beetle (with IRS rear suspension)
  • 1971–1979 Volkswagen Super Beetle (with IRS rear suspension)
  • 1973–1974 Volkswagen Thing (Type 181)

Note: This kit fits IRS-equipped models only. Swing-axle Beetles use a different bushing.

Key Features

  • Hyper-Flex polyurethane construction — resists oil, road salt, and contaminants that destroy rubber bushings
  • Full-floating, non-binding design for smooth suspension travel
  • Maintains correct rear alignment under cornering, towing, and hard driving
  • Drops into the factory control arms — no modifications required, reuses OE shims
  • Includes high-viscosity bushing lubricant for proper installation
  • Color: Black

What's in the Kit

Complete set of rear control arm bushings for both left and right sides, plus installation lubricant. Part number 15.3105G, UPC 703639253792.

Why Replace Your Rear Control Arm Bushings?

Worn rear bushings on a Beetle cause clunking over bumps, vague rear-end feel, uneven tire wear, and rear toe changes during cornering. After 40+ years, original rubber bushings are almost always cracked, oil-soaked, or completely collapsed. Upgrading to polyurethane tightens up the rear end and gives the car the responsive feel it had when it left Wolfsburg — only better.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will 15.3105G fit my Super Beetle?

Yes, as long as your Super Beetle has independent rear suspension (IRS), which all 1971–1979 Super Beetles do.

What's the difference between 15.3105G and 15.3105R?

Only the color. The "G" suffix is black, the "R" suffix is red. Material, durometer, and fit are identical.

Does this fit a swing-axle Beetle?

No. This kit is for IRS rear suspension only. Pre-1968 swing-axle Beetles need a different bushing.

Do I need to press these in?

Polyurethane bushings are softer than rubber when installed and typically slide into the control arm housings with the supplied lubricant. A press is not usually required, though a vise or careful tapping helps.

How long do polyurethane bushings last?

Typically 3–10 years depending on use, often outlasting the rubber originals by a wide margin.

Will these affect ride quality?

Slightly firmer than fresh rubber, but the difference is small on the rear control arms and well worth the improvement in handling precision.

State of the Art Book!
This book was recommended to me by my graduate school professor as being the most up-to-date, most inclusive book on trauma therapy that exists today, and that it is! First, it is written in an organized and coherent manner. It is extraordinarily well written and engaging which is amazing for a text of this type. It contains information on just about every subject that a beginning trauma therapist as well as a well-seasoned therapist would want to know! This is an incredible book and my only criticism is that, knowing how much I shall be referring to it, it is only a paperback and I wish it were a hardcover so that it will withstand the test of time in better condition. The price is extraordinarily reasonable when one considers the cost of most textbooks these days. I highly, highly recommend this book as a MUST read for every trauma therapist, or trauma therapist in training. I cannot say enough excellent things about the Briere and Scott text. Buy it. You will not regret it for a moment! In addition, after purchasing the DSM-V, I can say that although this book was written before the DSM-V came out, it dovetails with it extremely well, and is a perfect book to purchase after getting the new DSM-V if you don't already have Principles of Trauma Therapy. It is for anyone who is a mandated reporter also, as I am. Presently, I'm a doctoral candidate in Special Education, and find that this book will be helpful there as well. As a person who has worked directly in Special Education for over 11 years, and have had professional contact with Special Needs children for over thirty years, this book is a must--for anyone who works with children, teens, (or adults who have just disclosed trauma) whether you are in Psychology or Special Education, or any allied field that makes you a mandated reporter. The book is a MUST HAVE.

Excellent book for students trying to grasp PTSD
As a professor teaching post traumatic stress reaction to graduate and undergraduate students, I was looking for a book that hit the basics along with some key pieces regarding assessment, diagnostic criteria, and examples that highlighted some of the subtleties associated with complex trauma. This book is well organized and not too overwhelming for people new and beginning the field and a nice refresher for seasoned clinicians. Easy to read, clearly outlined to build upon each subject, I found it both a solid read, affordable, and made it a required read for my course. Please note that I purchased this book way back October 12, 2013 but only now getting to put my thoughts in writing.

Great interventions and Trauma Theory
Format: Paperback
This a great book if you work with victims of trauma and want to understand how different types of trauma can present and what interventions can be used (i.e urge surfing, cognitive restructuring, focus breathing, etc.). It also include a section about medications and what to address first in treatment. I think it’s great for new clinicians who may be looking for interventions to add to their clinical toolbox.
